Lately in Mobile Legends mage heroes are on the rise
until there is the nickname Mage Legends: Bang Bang, indeed even the mages
still dominate the game both in Classic and Ranked Mode, usually in one team
there must be 2 mage heroes, or even 3 mages (without marksman), fighter heroes
also begin to be forgotten, even if we stop at the ML forum there are many
players who protest and ask the mage heroes to be nerf, I myself agree there
are some mages too OP and need to be nerf like Harley (luckily it's already in
nerf), but instead of constantly complaining and hoping for changes from the
developer, we better learn how to fight / counter dominance from the hero mage.
HOW TO COUNTER ATTACK MAGE'S HERO DOMINATION IN THE MOBILE LEGENDS
Actually there are two main reasons why mage heroes
began to dominate this game, firstly because there were significant buffs for
mage heroes such as huge buff skills, damage + rework ulti Kagura, and the
emergence of Odette's new mage hero that was enough OP to use when team war.
According to me, old mage heroes like Eudora, Cyclops, and Aurora are still the
same as they used to be (indeed they were OP from the start), but there is one
more reason why the mages began to master the game, namely the presence of the
latest Lightning Truncheon magic items.

because there are 2 important effects obtained from this item, which high burst
damage and regeneration, this passive effect I need a little in nerf (eg 120%
), just imagine that every 6 seconds our skills produce 150% magic damage to a
maximum of 3 enemies, you can imagine that this item is used in the ultimate
Eudora / Aurora skill as the result.

Seeing the situation now according to me there are 3
types of mage levels used, namely:
- Normal = Hero mage that is mediocre and rarely used
when ranked.
- Alice
- Vexana
- High = Hero mage that is often used for Ranked /
Draft Mode and is indeed quite powerful.
- Eudora
- Aurora
- Kagura
- Odette
- OP = Hero mage which tends to be overpowered, enough
to be potentially banned in Draft Mode, and indeed need a little on nerf.
- Harley
- Cyclops
- Gord

Personally all the mage heroes in ML are fine-fine
except Gord's damage burst which I think is too big, he can do one shot kill
(skill 1 -> 2 -> ulti) on all opponent heroes including tankers in all
phases whether it's early / mid / late game.
Now I will give tips and ways to
deal with (counter) the mage hero.
If the role we use is a tank then
we just build the defense item magic, usually with 2-3 def magic items we are
strong enough to withstand this mage attacks, highly recommended to directly
build the first defense magic item, Athena’s Shield or Cursed Helmet, after
that in phase mid / late game can build immortal items.
The dilemma is quite a role fighter
because we need attack items but if the build defense magic is less than the
maximum in the game, that’s why it is highly recommended to build Magic Blade
items
- Aurora
You could say the Aurora damage burst is
not as big as Gord / Harley / Cyclops / Eudora, but the most dangerous thing
about Aurora is its passive skill, the freeze effect that we need to watch out
for. Before attacking or taking action you should look at Aurora's hands
whether there is a blue aura or not, this blue aura in the hands of Aurora
means that the next skill will give a freeze effect, so you can be more careful
before carrying out attacks especially during dive turrets and war teams. The
most suitable hero to count Aurora is Natalia and Irithel, Irithel can easily
avoid all Aurora skills (except skill 2) while attacking.
- Harley
Try to avoid empty land (empty lane)
because Harley likes to appear suddenly with his ultimate skill (red fire
circle) then hit & run with 2 skills (dash ahead + skill 1 so that all
cards damage 100%) then he will run away back to the back of the coffee. When the
ring fire is affected (ulti Harley) try to be near the minion / forest monster
/ your team hero, so the damage from the card is not 100% about us, if you want
to play it safe, you should engage when the wave minion comes so we can make
the minion shield if Harley attacks. The most suitable heroes to counter Harley
are Fanny and Hayabusa, when the Harley attacks with the ultimate, Hayabusa can
immediately issue his ultitude to avoid simultaneously killing the Harley
instantly, Fanny can also easily escape from the ultimate combo of Harley and
Fanny is the only hero that fits the most to pursue the Harley's hit & run,
Fanny can be said and Hayabusa is the best counter against Harley.
- Gord
According to Gord, it was a mage with the
most rewarding damage magic damage in this game, but there was one of the
biggest weaknesses, namely all the skill areas (AOE) so that it needed to be
directed and very easily avoided by the enemy. The best way to fight Gord is to
use a hero who has dash / charge skills so we can easily avoid all Gord's
skills and approach them. Ulti Gord has a weakness if the opponent's hero is
near us because the enemy only has to turn his back to Gord and he can't do
anything other than screw the ult and run away, besides that Gord can also be tacked
with CC like skill 2 Nana and ultimate Saber. The best heroes to fight Gord are
Saber, Natalia, Fanny, Alucard, Bruno and Hayabusa.
- Kagura
According to Kagura (especially in the
hands of pro players) is the most difficult mage hero to count because Kagura
has the highest mobility (other than Harley) among other mages, not to mention
the effects of all the CC skills are very disturbing both when attacking the
turret and defending. The only tip against Kagura is to use a hero who can
engage as quickly as possible like Zilong and Alucard, because in long distance
combat it is very difficult to defeat Kagura, the umbrella skill is very
flexible which can be directed from anywhere, so it is very difficult to
survive the skill 1 attack this, Kagura is the most ideal hero to play pulling
thanks to the range skill 1 and is suitable for fighting all types of mage /
marksman. The most ideal heroes to fight Kagura are Saber, Fanny, Alucard,
Zilong, Hayabusa and Franco.
- Eudora & Cyclops
The most annoying thing about Eudora is
the burst damage of all three skills (skill 2 -> 1 -> ultimate), what is
even more annoying is that all the skills are auto lock / aim so that it is
hard to avoid and the newbie player can easily use the hero. Eudora's biggest
weakness was the cooldown of her skill for quite a long time. After issuing the
third combination of skills, Eudora was said to be in "useless" mode,
usually Eudora would retreat briefly behind the tank / fighter after releasing
her skills, because that was the best way to counter Eudora (if 1 opponent 1)
is to create 1 defense magic item or at least Magic Blade, so we don't die with
one shot. The same is true when fighting Cyclops, except that Cyclops has a
short cooldown so it can be a continuous spam skill, the best way to fight
Cyclops between us building defense magic items (as a defender) or we have stun
/ disable skills and high burst damage so it can kill the Cyclops as quickly as
possible (as an attacker).
Hero counter Eudora = Natalia, Chou,
Balmond (as tank)
Hero counter Cyclops = Chou, Zilong,
Karina, Hayabusa
That is tips & tricks on ways to
fight the dominance of mage heroes in my version of Mobile Legends, of course
all this is not necessarily 100% true because it is only based on my personal
experience. In the end, what is more influential is who is playing, how skilled
we are at using the gameplay of existing hero skills and teamwork cohesiveness.
